It can be the catalyst to your feelings of anxiety and depression, and we all know that our mindset can have a huge impact on our day or actions. Your mind is a powerful tool, and with focus and positivity, it can dramatically improve your approach to things and the way you feel. If you are practising yoga and meditation then you may start to feel the connection between body and mind, and this can be a great way to turn a negative mindset into something more positive. If you haven’t tried yoga before, then there are some great beginner tutorials on platforms like YouTube. 

Cardio exercise

There is one thing that many people suggest when you are feeling down and out and that is a negative mindset can be reversed through exercise. This is about upping your heart rate so a brisk walk or a run, or even a gym session or class. Exercising enables endorphins to rush around your body and you can feel an instant buzz from it. There’s always going to be something that you can do, and if you can implement exercise into your daily routine then you are onto a winner for helping you to actively change your mindset.

Listening to podcasts

Podcasts are a great way to change the way you think and get more in tune with your thinking, so it may be time to start listening to them more often. You can do this in a variety of ways. While you are exercising, while you are driving, before you go to bed, listen in the shower or bath. Whenever you have the time to do it, stick one on and think about the messages. Often they can help you to seek clarity and change the way you approach things. From interviews to self-help, you are bound to find something that suits your needs. 

Looking at your lifestyle

Your lifestyle and how you live could be holding all of the answers when it comes to feeling better about yourself. Maybe now is the time to start thinking about changing your lifestyle in order to improve your mindset. There might be things to do with your diet that isn’t making you feel good, or maybe it is to do with your home environment. Often we don’t realise that your lifestyle could be having a huge impact on how you feel.

The food we eat can often be critical to our energy levels and how we feel, so a great place to start would be to try and eat more fruit and vegetables. It isn’t about a crash course diet, it is more about the food that you eat and ensuring that you have a balanced diet. You need to nourish your body with the nutrients and vitamins it needs to function.

Forcing habit changes 

Finally, sometimes forcing habits can make a big change. It could be simply forcing a negative thought into something positive, or making changes to your habits in terms of journaling or gratitude. We all have bad habits that we want to break. Some more simple than others. It might be that your bad habits hold you back, such as physical things like eating junk food, drinking too much alcohol, or smoking.

But then replacing bad habits with something positive like journaling or exercise can help you to overcome them and break the bad habits for good. Often we have triggers, so a great place to start is to work out what might trigger you and then replace the bad habit with something more positive.
