A Few Favourite Things – Kirsty Dee
Hi, I’m Kirsty Dee a Mum of two and a UK lifestyle YouTuber and blogger. I love vlogging, minimalism, spiritual stuff and notepads. I’m big on personal development and creating a life you love.
Favourite room in your home
My favourite room has to be my bedroom. It wins hands down. It’s the only room in which I have an area which is exactly how I’d love it to be. Our whole house is all stuff we’ve been given. When family no longer want their current furnishings and decor they pass it to us. Whilst I’m super grateful for everything that’s been passed down to us, I wouldn’t have chosen those items myself. My bedroom, however, has a corner that my older sister kitted out for my 30th birthday. I got to choose the desk, chair, and little decorative bits. It felt like Christmas as a kid. It is one of the best gifts I’ve ever been given.
My favourite trend for a home is a modern, clean, fresh and minimalist look. I love this look as there is something very calming and inspiring about an organised space. I know I’m more productive and happy when my environment is spacious. When my home is cluttered and messy I feel claustrophobic and overwhelmed.
Favourite thing you own
This was a hard one to decide, but my favourite decor item is a crystal tree my hubby bought me for my 30th. It was a surprise and I love it for the thoughtfulness of the gift. I love crystals and spiritual healing and he knew I wanted something to remember my 30th by. The usual milestone birthday gifts weren’t really me. I didn’t even know there was such a thing as a crystal tree, was a little blown away by his research.
Green. I love bold green shades like the colour of grass and nature. I also love blue greens like teal. I love it because of its mother earth vibe. I don’t like pastel shades, I sort of feel there are neither here nor there. I’m all about vibrant, bright colours. I think of them as happy colours. In my dream home, it would be white with splashes of bold, vibrant colours.
I love Summer. I love the warmer weather, the bright colours and being able to wear flip flops. I love having the windows open in the house and being able to sit in the garden without feeling cold.
Favourite about where you live
The beach. We live in Bournemouth which has the most amazing beach. I love it here, we’ve talked a lot about moving away recently as it’s expensive to live here, but it’s such a hard decision to make as my heart feels like it belongs to Bournemouth. We have friends here and it feels like home. There is also a really lovely river which I love to go to when I can. It’s a wonderful place to live.
