Losing weight can often be a high priority for many of us, especially as we are heading into the spring and summer months when our clothing doesn’t tend to be oversized, and we don’t want to cover up as much. Weight can be a vast topic to cover because it isn’t just as straightforward as eating the wrong things and putting weight on to then eating the right things and losing it again. It can be an uphill battle; sometimes it has more to do with your relationship with food than anything else.

I wanted to explore some of the options you could consider if you want to lose weight and to get back into shape.

Let’s talk about your relationship with food

Often, the first thing to understand is your relationship with food, as weight can have much to do with your habits and associations. You may, for example, comfort eating when things aren’t going your way. You may binge eat on things you shouldn’t. To lose weight, you sometimes have to understand your habits. Perhaps you overfeed yourself at meal times due to large portions. Knowing this can help you choose the right plan to move forward. 

Try a balanced diet with exercise

One of the obvious ways to lose weight and the one that is possibly encouraged the most is a balanced diet combined with regular exercise. This is a slow-paced way to lose weight but by far a healthier option to choose, as it does help you to develop new habits in terms of food and your eating. You need to ensure you eat the right level of food groups, with good portion sizes and combine that with exercise regularly. You may start to see increased energy levels, as well as the weight, dropping off. 

Have you tried juicing?

Juicing is a great way to kick-start a diet. You can do it in a few different ways, but many people prefer a three-day detox where all you do is drink juice. It can then help you to clear out your body and digestive system, which then, in turn, uses up any fat deposits that have been stored. Websites online have some great suggestions. It gives you a good clean slate to start with. There are plenty of plans online if you want to try this.

A word on surgery and other long term options

When it comes to wanting to see results quickly, especially if you feel like you have a lot to lose and you could end up with excess skin, surgery can become a real possible option to think about. the requirements to qualify for weight loss surgery are almost the same regardless of which procedure you choose. Which could mean that it could be a viable option to consider when it comes to thinking about you and what you want. A little research online and chatting with some professionals can help you with this. 

Maybe your weight is to do with your health?

Have you ever considered that your weight gain might not be entirely down to what you eat? Some people have underlying health issues that cause them to gain weight at a rapid rate. If you feel like there is more to your story, it might be worth speaking to a health professional and having some standard blood tests done. It could be hormonal or something to do with your glands and digestive system so it could definitely save you a lot of heartache in the future by ruling some of the common problems out. 

Cutting certain food groups out might be the answer

Things like carbohydrates are good sources of energy, but people do find that hurting them out of their diet, or certainly white carbs, can help with weight loss.

Another thing to consider would be a sugar-free diet. You will be surprised to realise exactly what has sugar in it and what doesn’t. Other people consider gluten-free diets or even things like going vegan and enjoying everything plant-based.

Finally, taking supplements could really help speed the process up in terms of your weight loss. There are herbal remedies out there that can work alongside a healthy diet to encourage weight loss. As well as just making sure you get your daily dose of vitamins and minerals which could also help transform your diet.
