A lot of us think about decluttering and organising the physical space around us, and that’s great. You already know how being organised and clean can make you more productive, but why stick to it just there? Almost all of us spend so much time on our phones and other devices too, and just like the space around us, our digital life needs to undergo a cleanup once in a while.

So here’s helping you with just that. Read on to discover 5 super effective ways to start decluttering your digital life – and you don’t even need to be tech-savvy to do it!

Uninstall Unnecessary Software

Ready to get started on everything you need to do to declutter your digital life and have that perfect zen-like existence digitally? You’ll need to start off by deleting and uninstalling all the unnecessary software and files off of your device. Do a quick visual scan to see what has been clogging your device’s space without serving any purpose for at least a couple of months now, and get rid of it.

Go On an Unsubscribe Spree

Time to say goodbye to those uninteresting and useless email subscriptions folks. Sure, this may take a teeny bit of time for you to get done with, but once you give it a shot, you’ll realise how it was completely worth it. Now you don’t just have less stuff clogging your inbox, but also less random notifications disturbing you in the middle of important tasks.

Create Backups and Delete

Whether it is storing all those files on a hard drive or on the cloud- you’ll need to create backups of your important files and documents, and then archive them accordingly to ensure that you have a little free space to work with. Cloud storage is a popular option a lot of people stick to today, and you’ll find many variations to pick from.

Go Folder Friendly

Think of folders in your computer as the storage containers in your kitchen. Creating different folders specific to certain files and basically creating a simple organisational system can be an excellent additional step. This will help you find the correct files easily when you’re looking for them, and you can also get rid of any duplicate or unnecessary files you might have lying around.

Stop Background Apps

This little underrated activity actually hogs your RAM and causes your computer or phone to slow down dramatically. Find apps that keep running in the background or get automatically launched at startup, and disable them. Depending on the device you’re using, the way you may have to do this can be different, but in most cases, you don’t need to be a geek to do it!
