Exercise outside

One of the first things that you can consider doing outside is to exercise and utilise the space that you have. Many people like the idea of working out at home, as it gives you a sense of freedom instead of feeling self-conscious in front of people in a gym environment. Take your yoga mat outside, bring your iPad and phone outside to follow along with a workout, and just enjoy the space and fresh air. It could make a real impact on your exercise schedule and may even encourage you to do more of it from home. You could even get children involved as there would be more space to do that.

Encourage wildlife into your garden

Do you like the idea of wildlife in your garden? Then perhaps it might be a good idea to consider encouraging more of it into your outside space. This can be extremely therapeutic for you, but it can also be a great hobby and interest for your children. then get a book and sit and see what birds come and visit. You may be surprised. Or you could look at encouraging other wildlife Kline hedgehogs, insects, bugs, and bees into your garden by creating bug hotels and areas that are perfect for them in your flower beds.

Head out first thing in the morning

Sometimes we don’t appreciate the power of the morning and the garden is the perfect place to enjoy it and enable yourself to wake up slowly. Get up a little earlier, grab a coffee, a book, or your phone and sit out for five or ten minutes in the peace before anyone else stirs. It gives you a chance to collect your thoughts for the day, wake up and start it in the right way. Many of us complain we have no time, so this could be the ideal way to embrace some time for yourself.

Enjoy in the evening

Just as you can enjoy it in the morning, why not embrace the garden last thing at night. This can be especially easier to do in the summer months when the nights are lighter and warmer. You could look at sitting out with your partner and just chatting about your day, lighting a wood burner on your patio for some warmth, or even just get some fresh air before heading to bed.

Try and eat outside more often

Sometimes these options are not possible in the colder months of winter, but when you do get decent weather, why not take the meals outside? This could be breakfast in the morning with your family, during the week, or at the weekend. It might be the evening meal where you enjoy the fresh air and talk about your day instead of their being distractions. Eating outside can also be a bit of a novelty for children and may even encourage children to eat more and embrace their food as they will find the environment different.

Create an outdoor kitchen

You may want to think about creating an outdoor kitchen as another option when it comes to your garden. This can be an excellent investment and may encourage you to eat outside more or at least spend more time outside. The outdoor kitchen can be as simple or as creative as you want it to be, and there are some amazing inspiring images on platforms like Pinterest. Include things such as a BBQ, or even a pizza oven to give you some diversity with the food you can prepare and cook.

Invest in new furniture and seating options

Finally, now might be the time to start thinking about the use of the garden, and one of the things that can be a common thing that you might need is extra seating. This can help to encourage you to sit outside more as you will feel comfortable, eat outside but to also invite people round and socialise. A garden, especially in the summer months, can be an extension of your home and a great place to socialise and enjoy people’s company in comfort.

Let’s hope that these suggestions help you to feel encouraged to use your garden more often.
