Top ways to help you relax and unwind

1st March 2019

Sharing is caring!

It is amazing how stressed out everyone is these days. Between dealing with bills, and work, and parenting, and everyone being over extended, it is no wonder so many people feel stressed. Because we are all going at 100mph, it is important that each day, we find time to do something, anything, that lets you unwind. Besides being good for your mental health, it is also good for your physical health. If you are looking for ways to relax, here are some of my favorite ideas.

Ways to Relax and Unwind

Reading

Reading is a great way to relax.  It can help you go to a place that is far away from your problems. Or you can read about something you enjoy like bird watching or traveling. If you have an Amazon account, you can read Kindle Books for free or at a discounted price.

Listen to Podcasts

There are so many podcasts about just about everything. You can listen to people talk about almost any subject. From parenting to crafts, to anything you can imagine.

Drawing

Whether you are drawing with pencils, do watercolour drawing or trying to paint with oils, drawing is a great way to relax. Don’t worry if you think you are not good enough. It can be something that is just for you and it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks.

Journalling

Like when you were younger and kept a diary, journalling is good for getting out everything in your head. It doesn’t have to be deep and meaningful, and it doesn’t have to be personal. Just write about your day, if there is something you wish you could talk to someone about or how you are feeling. If you don’t enjoy writing, doodle. It is just a way to get everything out.

Colour

There are so many adult coloring books now that let you color detailed pictures, or get a kids coloring book that lets you color simple pictures that do not take long.

Take up a Hobby

Hobbies are great to relax. Learn how to knit or sew. Play with clay. Learn to build something. Plant something and create a garden.

Exercise

Even if you think that you don’t enjoy exercise, it might be because you haven’t found something you like. Try different classes. Go for a walk. try training for a 5K. Learn a sport. It doesn’t matter what it is as long as you enjoy it and it lets you unwind. If you’re not used to exercising regularly you’re likely to be sore for the next few days but luckily a massage is also proven to relax the body and mind.

You can find a local masseuse by searching online for ‘deep tissue massage in Jacksonville, FL‘ (or elsewhere relevant) and reading through the most highly reviewed results. There are several types of massage and by conducting online research you can find the right treatment for you. For your mental health and your physical health, it is important to unwind. Use these ideas to find something to help you relax.
