The way we wake up and begin our mornings can have a huge effect on the rest of the day. Wake up in a bad mood or most commonly known as waking up on the wrong side of the bed can mean your day will be more of a negative experience. While we can’t predict how our days are going to turn out, what we can do is ensure that we start the day in the right way. Happy and fulfilled.
But what if you aren’t a morning person? Thankfully, there are things that you can do to start your day that will change that. Here are some of the things to consider.

Start your day the right way
Stretching
It’s natural to wake from a good night’s sleep and feel a little achy and sluggish. This is why not doing anything about those feelings can mean they linger on throughout the day. Maybe impacting your energy or productivity levels. Stretching is a great way to get the blood pumping around your body first thing. It helps to loosen the muscles, making them feel less tight and achy and allows you to feel much more awake from the word go.
Drinking water
Water is one of the first things you should consume, according to many health articles published. If you combine the water with slices of lemon that is even better. Water is a natural detox that will enable you to flush out your body of any bad toxins, making sure that you feel good on the inside.
Planning your day
Starting your day earlier can mean that you have some extra time to focus on what your plans are for the day ahead. This might mean things like knowing what meetings and appointments you have, or simply coming up with a “to-do” list to help you get back on track. You could look at calendar templates that you can download to give you an overview or invest in a planner or diary that can help you stay on track. Doing this can set you up for the day and can also be a great way to keep track of goals and actions you want to take.
Exercise
Exercise is a really common way to start your day, you may be surprised to know. It’s a great way to wake up your mind and body while ensuring that you get a daily dose of cardio and increased heart rate. Some people like to put on their jogging gear and head out for a run, while others may choose to do a quick twenty-minute workout from a DVD or a YouTube video.
Meditation
Finally, many people start off their day by meditating. A lot of people would associate this practice as part of an evening routine as it relaxes the mind, but it can also be a great exercise to do in the morning. It allows you to focus your mind and prioritise your day, making it far more productive. If you are unsure of how to start with meditating you will be pleased to know there are many guides online.
So, all that is left to ask is how do you start your day?
