Sharing is caring!

Many people take absolute pride in their homes, and rightly so. After all, your home can be one of your biggest outgoings and assets. However, some people can find that their home can lose that warm vibe during the winter. A lot can be to do with the energy efficiency in your home and also how you run it. I thought it was as good a time as any to share with you some of the ways you can ensure your home stays warm during the winter months.

Upgrade your windows and doors

One of the quickest ways a home can lose valuable heat is through the windows and doors. This can also make a home feel cold due to drafts of air being able to pass through the panes. A resolution to the matter is to simply upgrade those windows and doors. You can now get triple glazing which is the most energy-efficient window on the market. This can significantly lower your heating bills due to the warmth staying inside. Which subsequently makes your home warmer.

Use curtains and blinds

Curtains and blinds are another useful way to protect your windows from letting any warmth out and keeping it inside. You could even consider getting a cover for your doors if you happen to have something in place that is particularly drafty. An extra cover-up on those spaces that are likely to let out valuable heat is a very cheap and easy solution to your problem. Plus it can make a home feel extra cosy.

Check out your energy provider

Often your energy provider may not be giving you the best rate and deal when it comes to your home. If you are wanting to consider changing providers then looking online to make an energy comparison could be the way forward. Or, you may find that there is a much more efficient way of heating your home. For example, using digital thermostats to set the times in which your home is heated. Even using an application downloaded to your home gives you full and direct control.

Invest in loft insulation

A lot of heat can escape through your roof as we are all aware that heat rises. Hence the reason upstairs can be warmer than the downstairs area. So it may be worth considering investing in loft insulation. This will get fitted in the lining of your roof, to ensure that no heat can escape your home.

Consider styling your home with comfort and warmth in mind

Finally, the way you style your home can have a huge effect on how it feels when you are in it. For example, looking at adding more soft furnishings like blankets and cushions to your seating area can make a home have a warmer atmosphere. Other things to think about would be strategically placing furniture in warmer parts of the room, to avoid feeling cooler drafts from things like windows and doors.

I hope these tips help you to keep your home warm during the winter months.
