Sharing is caring!

Sometimes bedrooms can be the often forgotten rooms in your home simply because no one else sees it. Regardless of that simple fact, the bedroom is one room that should put into great consideration when it comes to decorating.  After all, it is the place where you get to rest and recharge. However small the bedroom might be, make the most of it with stylish, inventive decorating and design ideas to turn your small bedroom into a dreamy retreat.

Create a focal point

Every room needs an eye-catching spot that establishes a hierarchy of things. Mostly, the focal point is the head of the bed which you can intensify with a certain arrangement of pillows. Your eyes might also be attracted to the window because of the natural light that gets through there. Try placing the bed in front of the window to combine these two elements cohesively.

Keep things open

It might be so tempting to buy the biggest bed possible but by so doing you may choke the room that can cause a cramped feel. You should instead choose a small bed such as a wrought iron bed with a see-through headboard and footboard. When you do so, the middle of the room will look larger.

Go for it

For bedroom décor, there are two ways in which you can organize your small bedroom: Make it dark and cosy, with saturated berry reds. Another option is to boost daylight with barely dressed windows and a colour on the wall that allows light to bounce off, such as cloud white.

Storage, storage, storage

In a small bedroom, every square inch is potential storage. You can hide a set of luggage under the bed if you boost the bed frame on blocks and add a voluminous skirt. You can place a storage compartment under the window to help you hold extra bedding. When it comes to decorating and organising a smaller bedroom, use an organiser system to make the most out of the wardrobe storage. With the wall space being utilised for hanging shelves for books and trinkets.

Seize opportunities in a small bedroom

Look for ways to make your bedroom special with punchy fabrics and expressive patterns. Adding interesting lightings such as a chandelier or sculptural table lamps should be put into consideration. Trying an unusual headboard won’t be a bad idea, but you will be required to choose one that is extra tall or curvy, then use artwork to show your personality. The artwork doesn’t have to be expensive – framed pictures will add the interest that you desire and can be easily changed throughout the year.

Being the most personal space in your home, it’s very important to make sure that you decorate your bedroom with what makes you happy.
