Some people think that Christmas decorations are best displayed in the living room and outdoors. However, if you really want to get in the Christmas spirit, why not add some of those red, green and gold touches to the bedrooms of the house? It brings festivity and joy into the home from the moment to wake up to the moment you lay your head down to sleep of dancing sugar plums. The touches do not have to go overboard and if you add a few simple ones here and there you’ll start to feel the Christmas spirit immediately.

The holiday season is upon us, and while many of us focus on decorating our front porch and dining room, it’s a great idea to bring the festive spirit into our bedrooms as well. Whether it’s your primary bedroom or the guest room, a few festive touches can go a long way in brightening up the space.

A Colour Scheme For The Holiday Spirit

For the master bedroom, you’ll want to add décor that is elegant. A good colour for a grown-up room would be gold. You can change your curtains for the season to a nice goldish brown colour. I also like to buy the gold crystals sold around Christmas time in the ornament section and hang around my room to give the sense of royalty. They usually come in 4-packs for 99cents at Walmart and look like they cost a lot more.

Lights For A Winter Wonderland

You can replace the candles in the bedroom with a string of white fairy lights. They still give the ambiance of a dimly lit room, but do so with the feel of the holidays as well. They are beautiful and can be put virtually anyplace in the room. I think its lovely when its strung along the ceiling to give the feel of vines growing.

Mistletoe And Festive Cheer

Whether you are a couple or single, mistletoe above the bed can bring about feelings of romance and love into your life. It can also serve as a memento before bedtime to dream of lovely dreams. After all, your bed should be a place reserved for love.

A Kid’s Room With A Little Christmas Cheer

For children’s rooms, you can get more vibrant and colourful because kids are vibrant and colourful themselves. Take advantage of the inexpensive sales and buy some fun Christmas bedroom decorations for your children’s room. After all, it only has to stay up for a couple of months anyhow. Kids are a big fan of the glowing lights, glittery garland and shimmery snowflakes.

A good recommendation would be to get a string of lights that have a variety of colours in it and blink at various times. The kids will like this because it is like being in their own disco room. Let them turn on the lights during playtime but turn off as soon as it is bedtime.

An Evergreen Garland For A Festive Look

The teenage girls will love hanging glittery small wreath along their bedpost. Luckily, you’ll be able to find garland in every colour imaginable this time of year. Find out which colour she likes best or fits well with the rest of her room. Wrap it like a snake around the bedpost bars and you can even tie bows of ribbon to secure it in place.

Have a little family fun by cutting your very own snowflakes out of paper. If you don’t know how to do this, it’s really quite simple. There are simple, easy, and free tutorials online if you need to learn how. Hang the snowflakes by a paperclip and string and hang around the ceiling as if they are falling from the sky.

The Guest Bedroom

If you have a guest bedroom, you’ll want to decorate it as though your guest were entering a cottage during the holidays. Change the comforter to a Christmas bedding that has red and green in it. Hang a wreath on the door, and add fun knick knacks of reindeer and Frosty to the tops of the dressers. Your guest will feel special.

Don’t forget the bathrooms that may connect to each of the bedrooms. You can find Christmas hand towels for around 99 cents each that can be hung over a regular size red or green towel in the bathroom. You can change your soap to a gingerbread scent and be immersed in the holidays even while in the bathroom.

Other Ideas And Simple Christmas Bedroom Decor Ideas

The Christmas season is approaching and your bedroom is one place in your home where you can add some holiday cheer. Here are some tips for decorating your bedroom for Christmas.

Bedding For A Christmas Feel

One area where you can make a big impact on your bedroom holiday décor is your bedding. Choose red and green basic sheets if you’re on a budget. It’s a quick way to add some color to your home. If you have more to spend, invest in a flowery comforter or duvet set that matches the red and green Christmas theme. If you’re having guests for the holidays, consider providing comfortable holiday themed bedding to make them feel welcomed for the holiday.

Wall Art Is A Great Addition

Another quick temporary décor you can add to your room is Christmas themed wall art. And you can place these pieces in other rooms of your house in the future, if you aren’t inclined to décor your room the next holiday season. Choose sophisticated pieces of art that include this theme. You can take a religious approach with renderings of Jesus Christ and the nativity scene. For a secular approach, select images of Santa Claus and reindeer. If you’re into nature you can place winter and snow covered mountain scenes on your walls. It’s up to you.

The Trimmings

You’re not limited to just art prints on your walls. You can add texture to your walls with green garland to add more a scenic environment to the room. You can also hang cut out images of Christmas trees, the nativity scene or Santa in the room. These work especially well in a child’s room.

Lighting For A Traditional Christmas

Having the proper lighting is very important to a room’s décor. This goes for any time of year, but especially during the holiday season when the nights are longer. Hang strings of white Christmas lights strategically throughout your room to bring added warmth to your home. You’ll love the warm glow from the twinkle lights. It’s not only festive, but romantic. If you’re in a playful room or decorating a child’s room, select colorful Christmas lights to add a pop of color and excitement.

Add A Christmas Tree And Holiday Decorations

If you have room, consider a small Christmas tree in your bedroom to have your own personal tree to decorate. Place it on a small table or atop a dresser. This is perfect if you have a studio apartment or don’t spend much time in other parts of your apartment or house. You can have your main tree in the living room and a smaller tree to enjoy while you read a book in bed or serve as one of the first things you see when you awake on Christmas morning. Choose a colour theme and decorate the tree accordingly. You can go bright and colourful or pick a couple of colours and decorate around that scheme.

A fun way to keep family’s giving “gifts” throughout the holidays is to hang up dry erase message boards outside the doors of each bedroom. Family members can leave fun messages for their family members to see and brighten their day. Write Christmas quotes on there and indulge in the family spirit.

My biggest tip is to just have fun with the Christmas bedroom decor. There are no real rules to bedroom decoration and Christmas bedroom ideas.
