Sharing is caring!

Many people now are deciding to live tiny for many different reasons. Some live in a small apartment based on the budget available or just want a simpler and easy-to-manage space. If you are one of them joining the bandwagon, you need not worry about downsizing. There are many ways to make your small area feel larger than it actually is. Installing the right kind of furniture such as wall beds can free up more space in a small living area. Here are three great ideas for furniture pieces to completely trim down.

3 Great Pieces of Furniture that can Make a Small Space Feel Larger Than They Are

Wall Beds

While browsing through the furniture available for small spaces these days, you’ll be amazed at how they are created with great style yet really functional. One example of that would be the wall bed, which can now be cleanly and wholly concealed during the day but can be quickly pulled out when needed at night. Some wall beds nowadays double as sofas during the day and then transform into a comfortable bed with a little tinkering of a lever.

Another fantastic example would be a full-size Murphy bed attached to the back of a bookcase. Inviting some of your families or friends to come over for a sleepover will be a no-brainer. Furniture pieces like these convertible wall beds can be great conversation topics, too.

Floor to ceiling bookcases

Setting up floor to ceiling bookcases in a tiny apartment creates an illusion of a high ceiling. Aside from that, it is also a great way to add storage. Having the bookcase installed on the walls makes a wider space to put other necessary furniture or just leave a wide area available to go about. Customized bookshelves can also serve as a display area for people who like collecting items to avoid too much clutter in a small living room. An entire wall of bookcases can also appear like a mini library in a room with a limited area to store books. Open shelves can also serve as storage space for cooking utensils and other kitchen gadgets for a tiny kitchen. The ideas for this simple type of furniture could be endless.

Ottoman

Ottomans are great space savers. Downsizing requires every furniture to use up only enough usable space, and it is a plus if it has a different purpose than what it was built or made for. Ottomans are a great example of such kinds of furniture. People living in tiny quarters can upholster or design ottomans according to the color scheme of their area to make it blend in. Or they also can make ottomans as centerpieces which can serve as a table or added seating in a living room. And since ottomans are multifunctional, they can be useful storage for any clutter such as remote controls or gadgets in the living room or can serve as storage for linens and towels in the bedrooms.

Now, every person who wants to explore tiny living can try to live comfortably with this space-saving and multifunctional furniture pieces which are stylish as well. Living large in a tiny space is possible after all.

We’re looking into wall beds at the moment. Ieuan has the smallest room and he’s not happy about it – we’re really struggling – especially since the way he’s growing he’s going to be 6ft!
