As they say, money is the hardest thing to get but often it is the easiest thing to go away. We know you are always looking for those ways that you can save. Every little penny counts. There are several little things that you can do at home to help you save money. Whether it is saving that pound directly or cutting back on your bills. The following home hacks will help you save money.

Money Saving Home Hacks

Always make a list when going shopping

It is very important that you make a list when you are going to the grocery store. Write down what you intend to buy. It helps you to cut down on impulse buying and we know how that goes. Once you know what you need your eyes are less likely to stray all over the place. You will not go getting those unnecessary items. Your shopping cart will be filled with those items you planned for away from the grocery store.

There is also an online coupon system that is offered for many items. This allows you to purchase the coupons you need for a particular item at its exact price.  Making a list helps you to save on unnecessary grocery spending.

Use LED light bulbs

It is important to note that LED bulbs cost much more than those incandescent light bulbs. However, as time goes on they will help you to save lots of money. LED lights are much better energy savers. They pull less than those incandescent types, look better and last much longer. Studies have shown that LED light bulbs have a long life span and use as much as 20% of the energy required for incandescent bulbs. Over time that switch to LED bulbs will show because your electricity bill will lower and you will spend less time and money having to replace bulbs.

Use a line or drying rack

You can save money by forgetting the dryer and using a line instead. Your clothes dryer pulls a lot of electricity which in turn gives a high bill. You can set up a line or drying rack in the garden if they are not present and use them to dry your clothes when they are finishing washing. Yes, the dryer may provide that added feature of a faster drying convenience. But the money saved by using a line or drying rack will be more beneficial.

I use all three of these. Actually, this summer I’m going to teach my oldest how to do laundry, wash dishes, and grocery shop. It’s actually a goal we set with him on his IEP and this summer is the perfect time to get those things started. Thanks for sharing your tips!

We have found meal planning and having a food shopping list such a great money saver. Now the weather is warming up we can put clothes out on the line too, which will save some pennies!

Meal planning and a shopping list helps me save. I do my food shopping online too so I don’t get tempted.

We have a few drying racks which are super helpful, especially in winter and i love that we can put them out in the summer. It sue does save on electric and using the tumble dryer.
