Sharing is caring!

Whether you have a complete home office or just a corner in the living room that you use to study in, the space needs some attention. It is after all the place where your creativity comes out to play. What you will do with your brain gym depends on the type of work you will be doing in it and on what you like, mostly. A few fresh ideas about your workspace may give inspiration for new ideas in your work.

Determine the space needed

Will your filing system only exist electronically or will you need to haul in ten filing cabinets? If you need to keep physical files on hand there may be other solutions too, solutions that may take up less space than the mentioned filing cabinets. Putting up shelves on which you can place wooden file boxes is a great idea if saving space is your thing. If on the other hand, you have more than enough space for all the filing cabinets you may need, you may make use of a divider screen that suits your décor to hide them from plain sight.

Shed some light on the issue

When it comes to working you will need to put a lot of attention on your light source. Make sure that you can utilize natural light by day but if you can’t or if you know you will be working into the wee hours of the morning, you need to invest in proper lighting. This will help you focus better and help you avoid headaches and damage to your eyes.

Don’t sit on a problem

Your posture while working is very important. Sitting in an awkward or just slightly off position may leave you with terrible back pain, headaches, and other postural issues. Sitting correctly can help your arm position too which in turn could aid in avoiding conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome.

Being practical while working ensures comfort and increased focus but if you handle each element in a way that makes the area look amazing you know that it will be a pleasure to work in it. This can be achieved by ensuring that the elements complement one another. If you use soft colours fresh flowers can be added as decor. Are you more into green? Then a fern or snake plant may be a better option. Whatever you decide, you do you. You’ll be the one having to work there in the end.

I need to organize more space for my desk area and I definitely need a more comfortable chair. The one I have definitely doesn’t have enough support for the long hours that I sit in it while working at my desk. These are great tips! Thanks for sharing:)

We currently have no space for office and work from our dining room table. When we eventually buy a house we plan to have at least one room dedicated to an office. I’m looking forward to that day and will keep all these tips in mind.

We need to sort out storage and decluttering around my ‘office’ (desk in the lounge!), wish me luck!
