Sharing is caring!

Welcome back to my A Few Favourite Things series.  This week I have Jules from Pondering Parenthood showcasing her favourite things.  Be sure to check out her Instagram feed for adorable photos of her daughter Little M.

A Few Favourite Things – Pondering Parenthood

A Few Favourite Things - Pondering Parenthood

I’m Jules. I live in Norwich with my daughter, Little M, and husband, Matthew. I started writing my blog, Pondering Parenthood, while Matthew and I were trying to conceive. I can get a bit obsessive about things, so it helped to write down my thoughts rather than going on (and on, and on!) at hubby about it. Little did I know, we actually conceived Little M after just two months of trying, so I was actually pregnant just a couple of weeks after starting my blog! I now write about life with Little M as well as product reviews and the occasional day out.

Favourite room in your home

My favourite room in our house is the kitchen. We live in a modern townhouse with three floors and our kitchen/diner covers almost the whole of the downstairs floor. It has French windows onto the garden giving it a lovely light, open feel. This is the room that sold our house to us, as soon as we walked in.

Favourite trend

Hubby is a big fan of Scandinavia but had never been to IKEA before he met me, so I have opened his eyes to the world of the flat pack! In actual fact, though, our home is a bit of a mish-mash of furniture; items we’ve had since our student days mixed with Next Home and IKEA, plus a couple of bits and bobs that we’ve ‘inherited’ from parents. The kitchen is probably most ‘together’ room, with a clean, Scandi look.

We also tend to buy a little something for the home when we go on holiday. For example, we have a Dala horse from Sweden and a tiled dish from Turkey in our living room, and a butter dish from New York in the kitchen.

Favourite thing you own

Ooh, I have two favourite ‘things’, which are actually made up of a series of things! In the kitchen over the dining table, we have a photo collage of different places hubby and I have visited together. I took all of the photographs myself and it’s a fun game when we have new friends around to guess the place in each picture. Of course, each one holds special memories for us, too.

My other favourite thing is my series of wedding photographs on our middle landing. I love the way they almost tell a story of the day, starting with a shot of us leaving the church after becoming Mr and Mrs.

Favourite colour

I’m not sure I have a favourite colour, although I do tend to like shades of blue. My favourite colour in my house has to be the blue wall in my kitchen. It’s Quintessential Blue by Dulux Timeless Classics and I imagined it there as soon as I saw the house.

Favourite season

Spring colours are definitely my favourite. I’m too frugal to spend money redecorating with the seasons but I do have ‘summer cushions’ and ‘winter cushions’ for my living room. The winter ones are red checks and furry, while the summer ones are pale blue. Fortunately, the rest of the room is completely neutral so it’s not difficult to make the change! I do wish I had ‘spring/summer’ curtains for the living room too as I find the ones we’ve got a bit dark.

Favourite about where you live

I love living in Norwich because it’s such a great city; it’s got good shops and lots of historical architecture to see when you’re walking around, going about your business. We’ve also got the Norfolk broads and some fabulous beaches within an hour’s drive.
